82% of Trucks to Europe Have to Return Empty
In Turkey, according to January 2021 data, there are 3,938,732 pickup trucks and 859,670 trucks registered to traffic. In our country, which has the largest truck market in Europe, approximately 450 thousand trucks carry FTL every day.
Up to 1.2 million SRC-certified truck drivers are chasing loads on the roads, worrying about their bread. On average, a trucker waits up to 33 hours to unload, according to TIRPORTInsights data. In order to find a new load, it may search for up to 2.5 days. 1/3 of the trucks on the roads in the country are running empty. The more striking result is that 82% of our trucks going to Europe return empty, with an average of 4,500 trucks leaving the western border crossings every day.
Noting that a trucker in Turkey makes 5-6 trips on average per month and that this can be increased to at least 8-9 times with digital technologies, TIRPORT Operations Director Barış Anıl said:
“The main thing is to enable the trucker to reach and bid smartly from where he/she needs the load, to the destination he/she wants, to the load alternatives suitable for the truck’s qualifications. We are leading the end-to-end digital transformation of the logistics industry globally as well as in our country. With the technologies we have and the volume of business we have reached, we have become one of the few logistics technologies in Europe. With our digital solutions supported by augmented intelligence, we provide 24/7 monitoring and management of all location-based and real-time transportation operations. said.
A new generation of technology-savvy truckers is coming.
Tırport Operations Director Barış Anıl stated that trucks have started to pass to second generation drivers and said: “According to their analysis at TIRPORT, 62% of drivers are between the ages of 27-45 and the driver’s side is getting younger. We can say that a new generation of truckers who are more prone to technology is coming. Tırport brings together truckers who want to reach the cargo in better conditions when and where they need it, and reassure their customers with the transparency created by technology, in a new generation community called “Operated By TIRPORT”. In short, truckers from Tırport can access the load instantly from anywhere they want, with the “LoadCEP” application.
Explaining that TIRPORT trucks will be on the roads more in the coming days, Tırport Operations Director Barış Anıl continued his speech as follows:
“Logistics companies, big loaders and SMEs safely deliver their loads to “Tırport trucks”. In short, past performances can be accessed at any time, verified documents are fully and digitally recorded, insurance etc. The cargoes are delivered safely to the truckers of Tırport, whose obligations have been fulfilled. Customers, who both load the product and go to the cargo, can digitally follow the entire transportation process end-to-end, and their minds are never on the road. The value of logistics in the world was once again understood due to the pandemic. “If life can fit in the house, one of the reasons is because trucks are on the road.”
